All-Aluminum Hardware = No Long-Term Electrolysis

Our Swamp Eye Submersible and Mini Swamp Eye Submersible lights are built with 100% aluminum hardware — not a mix of metals. This design ensures long-term durability and eliminates the risk of electrolysis.

Aluminum is a softer metal, but it performs exceptionally well in corrosive environments like saltwater — as long as hardware is only hand-tightened (no drills). For this reason, we strongly discourage replacing our aluminum hardware with stainless steel.

Mixing stainless steel hardware with an aluminum housing underwater — especially in saltwater — creates a galvanic reaction. Over time, this can lead to electrolysis and galvanic corrosion, causing the light housing to degrade and appear as if it’s fizzing like an Alka-Seltzer tablet. This type of damage is not covered under warranty.
